The key characteristic founders look for in investors is their personal experience reviewing thousands of startup pitches and decks. Investors should have worked at any level (analysts to partners) at a VC firm.

Professionalism

Founders are paying for this service and are expected to take it seriously. PitchLab investors will also act in the most professional manner and engage with the founder to give them the most valuable experience possible.

Generosity

PitchLab fees are designed to be accesible to founders, but are likely below normal hourly rates for experiences investors. PitchLab investors get involved because of their love for their work and devotion to giving back.

Who are the founders I will meet?

Founders are generally running early-stage startups. Other than that, they are very diverse. Some are first-time founders that have never pitched before; others have been pitching but without much luck. Some have had pitch practice at accelerator programs; other have not. They come from various industries and geographies.

What are founders looking for in the session?

They may come to the session with specific questions or areas they want to work on. They may want to go over their presentation skills, storyline, and/or their deck. As an experienced investors, it’s nothing you haven’t seen before. However, in contrast to your normal pitch meetings, these founders are looking for honest feedback, advice and encouragement.

Why is there a waiting list?

You may or may not be placed on the waiting list after signing up. We want to make sure that there are enough investors of different backgrounds (experience levels, geographies, languages, etc.) and grow the network along with the growth of founders looking for help.

How do payments work?

We know that your time is valuable (and maybe expensive as well)! We have set prices to these services in order to ensure a level of professionalism and commitment from both sides, making sure that they are accesible to founders from around the world. However, most investors join PitchLab to help, to give back to the startup ecosystem and because they enjoy what they do.

Having said that, investors will be paid after the completion of the scheduled meeting. PitchLab charges a commission of 25% of the total amount paid by founders.

How do I manage my scheduled Sessions?
